PETALING JAYA: DAP Member of Parliament Charles Santiago has chosen not to prolong the issue surrounding his call for a review in the decision-making process at the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council.
He said he had merely made a suggestion on the handling of controversial issues in the country.
"We are Malaysians and we are all at the same level...
"I think any controversial issue should be discussed at the PH's presidential council level to get everyone's opinion.
"After a solution has been acquired from such discussion, then we can bring it to the cabinet level. That was my view.
"But, it looks like (Prime Minister Tun) Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) has responded to my views and I shall leave it at that," the Klang MP said when met at the opening ceremony of 'River Pollution and Impact on Water Supply in Malaysia' seminar by National Water Services Commission (SPAN) here today.
Santiago was asked to explain his remarks that Dr Mahathir had been making unilateral decisions at a troubling frequency.
In a statement posted on his Facebook on Aug 12, Santiago has called for a review in the decision-making process at the PH's presidential council.
He claimed that people seemed to have carelessly overlooked the fact that only "one man" was making arbitrary decisions.
Responding to Santiago's statement, Dr Mahathir cynically said he would refer to the MP before making any decision.
“In future, when making a decision, I will ask Charles Santiago. If he does not agree I will not make the decision. Of course, I have to obtain his view; he is on the same level as me,” he was qouted as saying.
