KUALA LUMPUR: With much having been said about the Ramadan Bazaar along Jalan Raja near Dataran Merdeka, here, things took a wet turn for the traders tonight.
Heavy rain this evening resulted in flooding with some stalls inundated in ankle deep water.
Batik seller Azkhalim Suradi said the rain started getting heavy around 8.30pm and about half an hour later, water started to rise and remained stagnant at about 6 inches high for some 25 minutes.
He believes this is due to clogged drains around the area.
Stalls affected were situated under tents near the Textile Museum.
He is uncertain on the damages suffered as at press time.
"Businesses were affected from the start of heavy rain at about 8.30pm," he said.
The worry, for Azkhalim and the traders here is what would happen should there be continuous rain for more than two hours in the coming days.
