GEORGE TOWN: Three men were arrested in connection with several cases of snatch theft in the Seberang Prai Tengah district.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said that the three men were arrested in three separate raids yesterday.

The raids followed a snatch theft case in Bukit Mertajam on Monday at 8pm, involving a 23-year-old foreign worker.

“In Monday night’s case, the foreign worker was walking with his colleague when a car blocked their path.

“One of the suspects got out of the car and chased the foreign worker before snatching his black crossbody bag, which contained RM60 in cash and an automated transaction card,” he told reporters here today.

Nik Ros Azhan said the three suspects aged, 20 and 23, have criminal records.

He said police also seized a Perodua Myvi, bags, handphones, receipts, SIM cards and an automated transaction card from the suspects.

“The suspects admitted that they targeted foreign workers as they believed foreign workers were easier victims.

“We will remand the suspects to continue our investigation,” he said.
