KUALA PILAH: A man, believed to be under the influence of drugs, went berserk and ran amok in front of a self-service launderette at Jalan Melang Commercial Centre earlier this morning.

Based on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording, the 43-year-old suspect was found to be in hostile behaviour and damaging several appliances outside the premises.

Kuala Pilah district police chief Superintendent Haslah Bachok said the suspect had come to the premises at about 6.30am.

“The man then acted aggressively and uttered abusive words while hitting the wall of the premises. The public who saw the incident immediately contacted the police and the suspect was then arrested upon police’s arrival at the location,” he said.

Haslah added that further checks found the suspect had past records involving drug offences.

“Investigation is still ongoing as the suspect is still high on drug. Urine test conducted on the suspect also showed he was positive for methamphetamine.

“The case is being investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 427 of the Penal Code. The suspect is being remanded for 14 days starting today,” he said.
