JAKARTA: Indonesian police arrested six Malaysians in connection with the discovery of 37kg of crystal methamphetamine, or syabu, on a luxury yacht in Jakarta on June 4.

The Malaysians – one of whom is from Perak, while the rest are from Johor – were detained on suspicion of drug smuggling, Bernama reported.

The yacht is believed to have sailed from Johor on June 4 for Jakarta, where it docked at the Batavia Sunda Kelapa Pier in North Jakarta.

Police raided the vessel based on a tip-off on the same day, Indonesian national police Criminal Investigation Department director Krisno Siregar said in a statement on Tuesday.

He added that the drug is believed to have come from Myanmar.
