SHAH ALAM: Police will summon actor and director Datuk Farid Kamil Zahari over his claim that he was offered a RM5 million bribe by the previous government.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said Farid will have his statement recorded soon.

Fadzil said a 43-year-old man, who claimed to represent Pemantau Malaysia Baharu president Datuk Lokman Noor Adam, lodged the report against Farid at the Kota Damansara police station yesterday (Oct 8).

"In the report, the complainant claimed that Farid had fabricated stories to tarnish the image of the then prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak).

"The complainant also asked why Farid did not lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission if his accusation was true," Fadzil told reporters here today.

An investigation is being carried out under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation.

In a video uploaded to YouTube at 10pm on Wednesday, Farid claimed that he was offered a RM5 million bribe by the previous government.

Lokman was quoted as saying that Farid should be investigated by police for making false accusations to discredit Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
