SEPANG: Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso clinched pole position as Movistar Yamaha duo Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo completed the front row in the premier class at the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Dovizioso clocked two minutes 11.485 seconds on a wet Sepang track during qualifying. Heavy rainfall earlier during Moto3 qualifying had seen the red flag halting the session for close to 15 minutes.

Rossi clocked 2:11.731s while Lorenzo secured third on 2:11.787s.

Recently crowned world champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) was fourth (2:11.874s) while Phillip Island winner Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) and Andrea Iannone (Ducati) made up the second row on 2:12.558s and 2:12.598s respectively.
