SEPANG: The Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix on Oct 28-30 will offer motorsports fans world class action both on the track and off it.

The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will once again host the Mega MotoGP Carnival, but this time, it will be bigger and better than ever – with a plethora of brands which motorsports fans and motorcycle enthusiasts recognise and love.

In fact, the 80 trade and vending booths allotted for the carnival have been completely booked.

The biggest names in the industry will be participating, including fan favourites such as Kawasaki, Yamaha, KTM, BMW Motorrad, Boon Siew Honda, Repsol, VR46 Official Racing Apparel, MOTUL, SHARK, SHELL, GIVI, Racing Boy, Liqui Moly and many more.

In addition to motorsports-related goods, there will be brands frequently associated with sports, like DRIVE M7, Rudy Project, Red Bull and Tissot participating, as well as Sunway Education.

“The vendors offer every visitor, regardless of age and personal interest, something to spark their passion beyond the tarmac," said SIC chief executive officer Datuk Razlan Razali.

"With something to appeal to every member of the family, fans can stock up on motorcycle parts and accessories, or even purchase a brand new bike, a new watch or pair of sunglasses.

"Not all spectators are also bikers, of course, with some coming just to support our Malaysian riders – so the Mega MotoGP Carnival aims to have inclusive appeal.

"We believe the MotoGP is a wholesome event that can be enjoyed by the whole family as a weekend outing," he added.

The SIC is also using the MotoGP as a platform for advancing a good cause by offering The Ten Ringgit Club space to create awareness of the Penan community and to display their weave-ware during the race weekend.

The non-profit organisation, formed to improve education opportunities for marginalised children in northern Sarawak, also helps to generate income for Penan villagers by offering their weave-ware for sale.

Colourful woven items such as purses, baskets and handbags will be on sale, with prices ranging from RM20 to RM150. Visitors can also contribute to The Ten Ringgit Club by pledging any amount over RM10 to help fund the education of marginalised children.
